Wonderful Moments from Lara's Concert at Carnegie Hall!
Lara's performance at Carnegie Hall on December 27, 2013 was everything I expected and more. I was thrilled to be there and to share almost two hours with her and other fans from around the globe as she sang sixteen songs in French, English and Italian. I found her gracious, funny, witty, loving, professional and above all, talented with unbelievable vocals in that setting.
Below are videos posted on YouTube by Lara Fabian-Brasil. They are well worth watching and give you a nice taste of the experience. For those of us who were there, they are a replay of moments that will live in our hearts forever and a beautiful memory of this very special evening.

Lara's Recent Ear Injury
This is a Bing-translated open letter to Lara's fans from a sound engineer on Lara's set who explains a bit about the recent damage to Lara's ears. She has had to cancel some of her concerts but after a recent success in Paris she is planning to go ahead with many of them with rest periods in between.
Open letter to the fans of Lara" by Rob Mancuso, sound engineer on the shows of Lara- "In the last days, I was bombarded with questions about what happened to Lara and if it was serious. There seems to be some confusion. I will try to explain as simply as possible the gravity of his situation.
In may, while she was rehearsing for a television show, a technician accidentally sent a signal of 1 kHz directly in his ears (the ears are monitors are molded customized for a person's ear canals and whose opening is only a few millimeters from the eardrum).
This signal of 1 kHz was sent so hard and so quickly in his ears that it was like a shot him had been fired next to each ear. The level of sound pressure (volume) of the signal was strong enough to make him lose balance and make it fall to the ground. Imagine a noise loud enough to make you fall!
This event was clearly injured his hearing and she had to be sent to the emergency room.
In September, when she started her tour, the necessary volume in his ears made worse because healing was not completed. In addition to this, since his ears were injured, any type of hearing shock creates an accumulation of fluid in the middle ear which, in turn, the makes it more susceptible to ear infections. The inability of Lara to hear certain harmonics of her voice makes an UNRECOGNIZABLE voice for her. Basically, while it sounds well for all those who listen, for herself, her voice does not resemble her voice. She lost all reference to his instrument.
This makes it very difficult to be able to control his vocal texture and tone. It is like a painter who would no longer be able to see certain colors and which would have to guess which is the blue. This is why she said she hears two different voice when she speaks or sings. It has a clear point of reference.
This situation would be scary to live for anyone. It would be worse if she were to live every night before thousands of people. Both the artist and the public deserve better than this.
